Balmain FW10

Prior to my discovery of Balmain, if someone had asked me to pick a designer that was the most “me”, or even just my favorite, I probably would have struggled to find an answer. Obviously there are so many designers that I love, but to use the word “favorite” carries a lot of weight. There’s something about that dark mysterious look that he does so well that has me hooked.

Christophe Decarnin of Balmain has done it again. Every season he blows me away, and this collection is no different. For FW10 Decarnin strays from the heavy military influence of his spring line and moves on to a very edgy regal look: saturated purples and maroons and all the gold lame a girl could dream of! In addition to the signature shoulders and micro minis, pantsuits are also shown (granted they are shown with sheer tops and no bra… not exactly “office appropriate”). This collection has everything from leather and pants, to corseting details, to a purple fur coat. Oh, and did I mention leopard print? Please pardon me, I’m drooling.

Alice + Olivia for Payless

So I was fully aware that Alice + Olivia paired up with Payless, but what I was not fully aware of is that it was a permenant partnership as apposed to a limited time thing... I checked the website once or twice and found a few really cute shoes but nothing that I die over so I didn't ever check back.. well aparently I missed out on an incredible lot of amazing shoes... AND THEY WERE SO CHEAP! The styles that I'm kicking myself for missing are the Claire pump, the Jake slingback and the coveted Madison boot. All I can find on ebay is the Madison boot and they're going for $120... Luckily I'm now aware of this treasure trove and am about to place an order for two shoes that are currently in stores the striped satin sculpted wedge and the sky high platforms.

feeling crafty

I wasn't planning on doing any shopping today, but when my boyfriend called me to tell me he'd found a hot thrifting and antique spot... well, I came running. Originally we were just going to buy a massive iron birdcage but I came across a coat rack with a bunch of purses on it. A white leather gem caught my eye and just so happened to be a vintage coach cross body bag in great condition, marked down 30% from $60. SCORE. Then I found a smaller grey leather bag of the same style... not Coach, but still very cute. I made my way to the front with my purchases, which included the two bags, birdcage, silver candlesticks, and and owl shaped candle.

When I was in New York, I bought about 100 studs so that I could get creative and make some unsuspecting handbag more "me". Well this little grey guy was the one! This was my first attempt at studding but an hour and a half later, I'm so proud of my little bag! Tell me what you think!!

Jeffery Campbell stole my heart...

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm instantly attracted to ANYTING studded (when done in good taste), but these Jeffery Campbell 'Tick' Wedges are a whole other phenomenon, entirely. I believe I came across these shoes in a personal style blog and it's been true love ever since. I have literally dreamed about this shoe on more than one occasion. Now, while they could be mine for a small price of $160, I have never spent anywhere near that amount of money of shoes. (I'm what some people call cheap and others would call frugal.) The more I look at them, the more I think these are worth every cent, I mean come on, they're haunting me in my dreams!!!

These are another pair of Jeffery Campbell lovelies that I just adore!
